India suffers from a shortage of physical and human resources in healthcare. We realize that training is a natural extension of Midmark India’s presence in the product space, In 2015, the training services division was launched. Creating educational institutions wouldn’t align with our strategy or ensure the best use of resources hence, we partnered with the state government of Uttar Pradesh in North India to train women in rural areas to become General Duty Assistants (GDAs). GDAs assist nurses and doctors in patient preparation and recovery. Prior to training, most GDAs are unemployed with limited skills and opportunities. These programs have had a significant social impact and exemplify Midmark’s mission . So far, 5000+ students have enrolled and 1700+students have completed the six-month training, which includes 180 hours of job training in local hospitals. Currently, 1200 + students are being trained. Midmark India was recently recognized by the President of India for our training and employment efforts in Uttar Pradesh. Our goal is to launch 16 training centers and impact 32,000 families across the state by 2022.
